Can an Xbox game have a major impact on Marketing in non-gaming industries?
Yes, indeed. Because it’s not any game. It’s Cyberpunk 2077. I wrote about it in May already (Read more>>>), as my prediction was that this game will impact marketing trends for 2018/2019. It’s predecessor The Witcher 3 by the same development studio was sold in 25 mln copies in the first 18 months.
The game was presented first time a week ago in the XBox 3E 2018 exhibition and there is a major controversy about it already. But usually the more controversy, the more sales.
Reviews for Cyberpunk 2077 posted a few days ago beat records of popularity, some had over 0,5 mln views(within one week!). There are already 10.6 mln results in Google for “cyberpunk 2077” (over 44 mln for Cyberpunk alone). This game has all the chances to reach highest sales in its category in the history of RPG gaming. Number of posts in Instagram with hashtag #cyberpunk increased by 53k since I last wrote about this trend, that is 8% within a month (it’s 710k now)!
